Le Cordon Bleu Student Stories

Hear from international students about living and studying in Adelaide

Ram Bharadwaj

India
As a young boy growing up in Bengaluru, India, Ram Bharadwaj had big dreams to make a difference. Seeing hotel staff wearing a particular striped uniform was mesmerising for the then seven-year-old, and at that moment he knew he wanted to work in hospitality.

But in order to pursue his dreams, he knew he had to leave his home country and look further afield, which led him to Le Cordon Bleu’s Adelaide campus. He says choosing Le Cordon Bleu as a study destination was an easy choice and Australia ticked all the boxes in terms of job prospects and a strong tourism industry.

So, without second guessing himself, he trekked half-way across the globe and began studying the Master of International Hospitality Management (MIHM) program. It’s been 13 years since Ram graduated, and he is now living his childhood dream as Hotel General Manager at The Savoy Hotel on Little Collins.

Joachim Lim

Asia/Pacific Region
Joachim Lim knew that in order to truly succeed in the culinary world, he had to arm himself with all the knowledge and power of both cuisine and patisserie. The Grand Diplôme® graduate, who is now the head chef at Melbourne's acclaimed Society Restaurant, says he made the right decision to study at Le Cordon Bleu Australia, as it opened his world to endless possibilities.

“It’s one of the most prestigious schools you can go to if you’re interested in culinary arts,” he says.

“As a student you don’t usually get to work with premium products, but I remember in one class I was able to work with a lobster that weighed 2kg which was incredible.”

As a lover of both savoury and sweet, Joachim decided to take charge of his career with Le Cordon Bleu’s Grand Diplôme® – internationally recognised as the most prestigious certificate in the culinary world. It is awarded to students after having completed their studies in both cuisine and patisserie.
