Entry Requirements

Successful completion of at least 0.25 EFTSL at AQF level 6, 0.5 EFTSL at AQF level 5 or above, or equivalent

OR

Australian secondary school certificate, or equivalent Senior Secondary qualification, or Baccalaureate Diploma

Academic IELTS 6.0 (no band less than 5.5) or equivalent

OR alternative entry requirements may be available. Alternative entry may include assessment and approval of prior study, or successful completion of a readiness assessment.

Course Details

A Bachelor of Communication Design provides the skills and knowledge to share information visually across a range of media, using a variety of techniques, tools and technologies from related disciplines. Under the guidance of industry leaders, including brand and design consultants, graphic designers and creative directors, this course provides you a comprehensive skillset in demand by today’s creative industry, teaching you strategic thinking, brand strategy, packaging design, storytelling, customer experience design, service design and more.

The course explores the theory and practice of information design, from initial concepts through to sophisticated visuals, from traditional print work to state-of-the-art digital design. You’ll discover the building blocks of typography and learn about idea generation, digital media, design research, information design, and more. You’ll also explore areas including sustainability in design, user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design as well as design thinking methodologies. Additionally, you will develop a cross-disciplinary design skillset as you complete a series of elective subjects of your choosing, allowing you to tailor your course to your interests and career goals.

Available on-campus or online, your subjects will allow you to practically apply your skills across a range of problem-based learning and work integrated learning opportunities. In doing so, you will be able to develop innovative design approaches to solve societal challenges, further preparing you for a career in leading design studios. Upon completion of the program, students will emerge as versatile and skilled communication designers, ready to tackle the industry's challenges with confidence and creativity.
