Career Advantage Program

Why join Career Advantage?

This free program offers international students and recent graduates access to face-to-face employment skills workshops and experts in all aspects of employability. It covers everything from job search skills, resumes and cover letters to interview skills and Australian business culture.

And, even better, it’s a micro-credentialed two-part program accredited by the Career Development Association of Australia (CDAA). You can earn a micro-credential for each part of the program.

To give you every opportunity to join the program, we have flexible options to fit your schedule. Book the workshop dates from each block that work best for you so you can complete the full program.


How It Works:

Attend Career Advantage sessions and meet the requirements to earn two micro-credentials:

  1. Part I - Career Readiness: Essential Skills for International Students
  1. Part II - Australian Workplace Success: Networking, culture and goal setting.


Career Advantage Program – Part I 

Career Readiness: Essential Skills for International Students – Block One 

Location: Torrens University

  1. Resume writing for professional jobs – Tuesday, 18 March 

  1. Cover letters: Think like a recruiter – Tuesday, 25 March 

  1. Cover letters: How to write and grab the recruiter's attention – Tuesday, 1 April 

  1. Interview skills: What’s being measured? – Tuesday, 8 April 

  1. Interview Practice – Mock Interview session – Tuesday, 15 April 

 

Career Readiness: Essential Skills for International Students – Block Two 

Location: Flinders University City Campus (Festival Tower One) 

  1. Job Search Skills – Wednesday, 23 April 

  1. Resume writing for professional jobs – Wednesday, 30 April 

  1. Cover letters: Think like a recruiter – Thursday, 8 May (Please note this session is at Torrens University - room 1.12)

  1. Cover letters: How to write and grab the recruiter's attention – Wednesday, 14 May 

  1. Interview skills: What’s being measured? –  Wednesday, 21 May 

  1. Interview Practice – Mock Interview session – Wednesday, 4 June 



Learning outcomes required for you to acquire the micro-credential for Career Advantage Part I: 

  • Attend all six sessions of the program (it could be a mix of sessions from the first block and second blocks)  

  • Create your own job search plan 

  • Identify and list your skills 

  • Improve your resume 

  • Tailor your cover letter to a specific role 

  • Prepare and pass the mock interview

Australian Workplace Success: Networking, culture and goal setting.

  1. Networking – Tuesday, 22 April 

  1. LinkedIn for professional jobs – Tuesday, 29 April 

  1. Australian Business Culture – Tuesday, 6 May 

  1. Your first 100 days in the job and goal setting – Tuesday, 13 May 



Learning outcomes required for you to acquire the micro-credential for Career Advantage Part II: 

  • Attend all four sessions 

  • Create a networking plan 

  • Create/improve your LinkedIn profile 

  • Create a plan to perform well during your first three months in a new job. 

  • Create your career goals for the next six months.
